Breaking the Spirit of Rebellion

I believe we are entering a season where the spirit of rebellion or sedition is being broken off of God’s daughters in the name of Jesus all over the world. As we read Proverbs 31:10, (a verse we might have seen many times) we discover that the worth of a virtuous woman is far above rubies. Part of the power behind knowing our worth in Christ is seeing our identity correctly. This allows us to break off any lies that we may have operated in or that have been spoken over us. We must first examine ourselves with the Word of God through curiosity and love… not our own love, but God’s love. The perfect love we find when we study God’s word. So we ask ourselves… “What is a virtuous woman?” First, let’s take a look at the word virtuous by definition.

vir·tu·ous

/ˈvərCHo͞oəs/

adjective

having or showing high moral standards.

Having or showing high moral standards. Our morals drive us to know the difference between what is right or what is not right to do. Something that shocked me (but I wasn’t surprised by when I truly stopped to think) is the use of the word virtuous has decreased by 85% between the 1800s and 2000s. Virtuous is a powerful word that calls us to higher moral standards and we are rarely using it today. Those numbers truly reflect what we see in today’s culture as women. Something else that I found interesting is that rubies are used to measure or explain the worth of something twice in scripture. Let’s look in the book of Job…

“… for the price of wisdom is above rubies.”

Job 28:18

Wisdom and a virtuous woman, both are far above the price of rubies. If you are curious about how valuable and rare rubies are, I would encourage you to spend some time researching them. You might be surprised by what you find!

So, we might be asking ourselves… “How do the attributes virtuous and rebellious relate to one another?” Well, they don’t. Other than the fact that they are in stark contrast to one another. We also know after reading Proverbs 17:11, that only an evil man seeks rebellion. So let us be encouraged with this revelation… When we are striving to walk in obedience to God’s word, we are breaking the spirit of rebellion (which is clearly evil) off of our lives. We are also no longer carrying (consciously or subconsciously) a message of rebellion to those around us, which could cause them to operate in that spirit as well.

If we truly want to see a revival for the daughters in the Kingdom, it starts with examining ourselves. We are nothing without God. With Him, we are joint-heirs through the precious gift of Jesus Christ and what He purchased for us on the cross. Eternal and abundant life. A virtuous woman is an obedient woman. A woman who surrenders her will and life to the Lord. A woman whose worth is far above, not just one ruby (singular); but many rubies (plural).

If we find ourselves unsure of where to start, or we are asking ourselves… “Am I aligning my morals by the world’s standards, or by God’s?” then we are in a good place. God is nudging us to spend more time with Him because He wants to give His perfect love to us. He doesn’t care about the mistakes we’ve made. He cares about loving us back to virtuousness right where we are. The correct response to this nudge is the beautiful gift of repentance. Simply, coming to Him and confidently asking for Him to forgive us, knowing He is standing with arms wide open. He is ready to give us the biggest hug a Father could give.

Let’s pray this prayer of repentance.

Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I have been rebellious to the way you want me to live. I want your love to come and heal the things inside of me that have lead me to act that way. Please show me through your word and others you want to use around me, how to live my life as a virtous woman. As you present opportunities for me to grow, I will respond in obedience. I break any curses of rebellion that I have allowed into my life or that have been spoken over me in Jesus name. Thank you for loving me and being faithful to hear my prayers. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

If you look around and find yourself surrounded by people who are carelessly walking in the ways of the world, we want to encourage you to join our free and private community full of imperfect women walking in grace through their Heavenly Father’s love daily. Just as we must be careful of the message we carry to others, we should surround ourselves with others who are careful of the message they carry to us.
