Worthy Women Ministries | Persevering to Promises

I find myself always curious as to why it is difficult for myself and other women to walk confidently in our true worth. Why do we shrink down in a room? Why do we get knocked down and walk away? If we know that the living word of God is perfect and true, why is it so easy for us to listen to lies from the enemy and accept defeat? Why are more women not walking with their heads held high, walking in their full potential?

Let’s take a look at what scripture says about our worth…

Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Isaiah 43:4 Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.

Over and over again, the Lord speaks to us through His word about how much He values us. When we stop long enough to meditate on the fact that God gave His son to die for us so we can live abundantly, our worth becomes something we not only recognize, but treasure. We almost tremble at the thought of accepting anything other than what He says we are. Yet, there are still more women afraid to walk in the abundant life than not.

So, I began to pray into it. I began to ask the Lord to help me see what He was trying to teach me with the interactions I was seeing and experiencing, so I might be able to help His daughters push through the noise and walk in who He says they are.

Let’s take a look at what scripture says about confidence…

Hebrews 10:35,36 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Ephesians 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Jeremiah 17:7 But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Proverbs 3:26 For the LORD detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.

After looking at just a few of the scriptures, it is clear that the Lord not only commands us to be confident in Him, but He blesses us for it too. He tells us to persevere. Pushing through the difficulty in order to receive what has been promised to us. As Christians, throwing away our confidence in Him is like throwing away the gifts He’s promised us.

Early on in obedience to start Worthy Women Ministries, I wrestled a lot with my confidence. Satan didn’t want me making kingdom moves, so he began whispering lies. “No one is going to believe this is God’s calling on your life,” “They are all going to think you’re just wanting attention,” “All they see is arrogance and boasting, you’re a fake,” “People will never believe your testimony…” To say that this was a hard season would be a serious understatement. But during this season is when the Lord taught me about the fear of man. The fear of man is a tactic the enemy uses to immobilize us and silence us. Proverbs 29:25. Because the enemy was trying to keep my eyes focused outward on man, I decided to do the opposite and look inward to examine myself. I knew what the Lord had told me, but wanted to shut Satan’s voice out. So, I began to ask myself in curiosity… “Was this something the Lord was calling me to or was it my own arrogance that had called me to take action?” I knew once I had examined myself through the word, Satan could no longer use those lies to keep me frozen.

Let’s take a look at what scripture says about arrogance.

Proverbs 21:24 “Scoffer” is the name of the arrogant, haughty man who acts with arrogant pride.

James 4:16,17 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Psalm 10:2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the needy; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

Proverbs 30:12,13 There is a kind who is pure in his own eyes, Yet is not washed from his filthiness. There is a kind- oh how lofty are his eyes! And his eyelids are raised in arrogance.

What the enemy means for our harm, the Lord always uses for good! Had I not walked through that season, I wouldn’t have learned the clear distinction between confidence and arrogance.

Confidence is trusting that in God we can do all things, but without him, we can do nothing.
Arrogance is leaning on our own abilities and willpower without concern or proper fear of God.

This lesson is such a precious blessing to me now, especially as I continue to lead women to step into their own calling with confidence. Through examining myself, the answer to my questions seem clear. God is calling His daughters to persevere.

It is important for all of us to know that anytime we step into what God has created us to do, Satan is going to try and stop us. But, you are not alone. Don’t throw away your confidence… persevere! The word of God is a lamp to our feet. When we feel like Satan has us surrounded by darkness, He is faithful to light the way. Examine yourself with a curious heart through His word. If God gives you the green light, don’t hesitate… GO! Most importantly, it is not arrogant or boastful to be excited and share about what God is doing in and through your life, that is a lie from hell. Your story and your purpose were lovingly planned by your Heavenly Father before you were being formed in your mother’s womb! Stop and think about that! You are not a mistake and neither is your story! God wants to use the story He’s given you to set the captives free. Walk in it with confidence, sister! Dance, Sing, Shout!

In this life, we will face trials of many kinds. People around us who don’t understand. People who stand from a distance to watch us fall. People who label us as boastful, arrogant, and prideful. But God will also bring people who believe in us. People who want us to persevere for the Kingdom. Together, we will count it all joy. He has and will give you everything you need.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
